A red cross. A white, bitten apple. One look is enough to recognise a familiar sign and to figure out that it is about computers. Or medical help. A good visual identification will not create a brand on its own but it can facilitate this process. In this respect it is similar in the real world as on the Internet.

What is the aim of creating an identification?

A good visual identification may help strengthen the company’s image in the client’s mind.

Identification enables us to subdue two forces that affect a company - one is internal, the other external. When a company is growing, it produces more and more documents, offers, websites, e-mails, it leaves more and more tracks. If there are no organising rules to be followed, the brand image will gradually change and become vague. Each worker will add something and the brand will lose its internal consistency. Identification helps to maintain it. From the outside, however, there is a threat of competition. In order to stand out, apart from a good offer, it is worth to originally, and explicitly communicate with the clients. Why should a client remember only our newsletter from among 10 others which he gets every day? A good visual identification may help here and strengthen the company’s image in the client’s mind.

Is identification needed on the Internet?

Internet identification has a different character than a traditional one. We do not mark the headquarters of a company or a fleet of cars. But it is equally, if not more, important. When clicking on the link received in an e-mail or an advertisement, a user does not know where he will be directed - he is out of context. That is why every web page, an advertisement banner, an e-mail to a client or a report issued on the Internet must explicitly identify a company. The user has to be able to retrieve the context immediately and recall all positive things that he has heard about your company.

What is the project outcome?

There are two elements that result from work with visual identification. A basic sign - logotype - which is supposed to explicitly identify an enterprise. A logotype is complemented by a sign book that defines its usage standards. The second element is an identification of specification which is called web manual. It describes various elements that are related to the brand image - fonts, colors, elements to be clicked, recommendations about the photos’ character and many other elements.
